If you have a flair for writing then here is a golden chance waiting to get your story published on a gift book. Yes, all you need to do for this is to enter Mumsnet, Gransnet and Walker Books writing competition. The theme for this year’s competition is animal stories.
The competition was held last year as well where hundreds of people participated out of which 10 winners were chosen. Their stories were published in The Book of Bedtime Stories which won first place in The Independent’s top children’s books for 2013. Participants need to write prose stories of animals, big or small for the age group between 4 and 7. Also, writers need to give importance to quality rather than the quantity and hence word count is not a concern at all. Entries must be submitted before 6 January 2014.
Mumsnet, Gransnet and Walker Books will shortlist 20 stories and publish on the website on January 16, 2014. Thereafter a panel of judges will select the final 10 stories to publish in the book. Winners of this competition will be announced on February 10th 2014. Winning authors will receive £500 prize money. All the 10 winning stories will be published in The Book of Animal Stories by Walker Books in the month October 2014.
