Words in the City is an event hosted by the Ilkley Literature Festival, which is to be held next month on 9th and 10th of July. It returns offering an exciting weekend of free spoken words and poetry. Words in the City, back for the second time, will be hosted at Waterstones. Some of Bradford’s most talented writers will be at the festival. The local writer and artist Kristy Taylor will be combining poetry with photography inspired by the city.
Performers, including rapper Testament, Asma Elbadawi, Isaiah Hull and many others, will stage half-hour performances. It will be held from 12 noon to 6pm on 9th July (Saturday), at Bradford’s City Park, as part of Words in the City Stage. On 10th July (Sunday) Waterstones will host a gathering of North’s leading poets, reading in English, Hindi and Urdu, making up a multi-lingual Mushaira. Hollie McNish will be performing with the poet Gevi Carver, Gav Roberts and Kristy Taylor, with Open Mic slots offered for performers on the night.
Children and families can enjoy drop-in free activities. Plus, there will be Revolting Rhymes by Sian Williams and Simon Kerrigan. For more information on free events during Words in the City, please go to the site- ilkleyliteraturefestival.org.uk.
