WHSmith planning on introducing free in-store wi-fi services

Free WiFi WHSmith in-storeWHSmith, the news agent, stationery retail vendor and bookshop is the most recent firm to provide free Wi-Fi connectivity to its clients. The firm has signed a pact with The Cloud to set up and provide free wi-fi services in six hundred and three of its chain of stores situated throughout the length and breadth of the UK.

This novel wi-fi facility, other than just offering the users the facility to make use of the service, also makes demonstrating the Kobo ebook Reader that is being sold in the store far easier.

The Group Business Development Director at WHSmith stated that they have at all times been searching for different means to help customers enjoy a great shopping experience, and the Internet was something that offered plenty of additional details that people could not earlier avail of when they were in one of their stores. An example quoted by him was that people could avail of detailed reviews of books, list of available products and the search option. He remarked that the provision of this facility was a means of combining high street shopping with the Internet so that it works well with their clients. The wi-fi accessibility free of cost did exactly that and their shoppers had the convenience of surfing the web from the store. He says that at the end of their shopping experience they would have had a wonderful experience that would be advantageous to both parties.

Pizza Express, Greggs, Eat, Wagamama, Network Railway Stations, First Great West., Caffe Nero and Pret were some of the other firms that were providing free wi-fi from The Cloud to their customers.

One of the survey that was carried out of late revealed that about 60 percent of the people who shop in the stores utilise mobile internet as they go on with their purchases, of which nineteen percent compare prices and look at product reviews before they buy an item.
