Welcome to the free Christmas community dinner in Portsmouth

December 1st, 2015 by Sandy

The community group Urbond that promotes togetherness, is to host a free dinner on 19th December. The charity believes no one should miss out a festive dinner this Christmas. It’s for anyone in Portsmouth who isn’t able to afford to make one. The idea is to provide a home cooked Christmas dinner and planned to be hosted at the Charles Dickens Centre on Lake Road, in Landport, that will start a 8:00pm and go on up to midnight.

Ousmae Drame, an organiser of the event, said this is a chance for people to come together and enjoy the spirit of Christmas, without discrimination or prejudice. They will be raising money for local charities, and for all who need help, Mr. Dreame added. He had come from Guinea, West Africa, to UK when 17 years old and suffered from loneliness earlier as a teen.

The councillor from Charles Dickens ward, from the Portsmouth City Council, Yahiya Choudury, said it was a great idea and good that Unbond is bringing together the whole community. The work is beneficial to everyone and he encouraged them to do as much as they can here. The MP from Portsmout South, Flick Drummond wished Urbond success for the community event, as it is a plus for the community. Find out more about the free event at the website- urbond.co.uk.
