Free outdoor music in Highbridge town centre
A free event of outdoor music will be held in Highbridge town centre, on 18th September (Sunday). The free music event will be performed on the greens of Southwell House Garden, to be held from 12:30PM to 5:15PM, with performances by Polden Mountain Boys, Nick and Chris, Rushtique and Breeze in solo. The Bank Street car park near to the venue has free parking on Sunday.
Chairman of the organising group Burnham and Highbridge Cultural Arts and Development Society (CADS) and organiser, Mike Murphy, has said this is their first event and it marks the beginning of a new location at Southwell House Gardens for free music events and a Musicfest in 2017 is being planned in Highbridge too. He added that the weather looks fair enough and ale, cider and wine will be sold at a bar, along with soft drinks and a free raffle, in the marquee during the fee event for people to enjoy.
Make and Create free event comes to Brixton
Make and Create is a free event that will host free creative workshops on the16th and 17th September, at the Simulacra Studio in Brixton. The new 2-day community arts event at Brixton, called ‘Make and Create’, has free workshops conducted by talented artists covering everything from Spoken Word to Graffiti and Twerking to Ceramics. Ten places are available to attend each of the nine workshops planned. The free workshops will also provide free food. There will be also a free exhibition of artwork at the venue.
The organiser of the event, photographer Georgie Grainger, said that all the workshops run by London artists aim at bringing in together the local community, to help learn creative skills for free and also to network with fellow artists. A line-up of free workshops welcome participants, which are taking place on Friday and Saturday, at the Simulacra Studios on Barrington Road. Free tickets to the workshop can be bought through the Eventbrite website.
