Free taster sessions on Bass instrument at Batley
The Batley Music Centre is offering weekly taster session for free. The 30 minute sessions on a bass instrument will be held every Thursday, running till the end of the Autumn term. The times for Trumpets and Cornets is 4:45pm to 5:45pm. The weekly sessions are open to kids of junior school ages, right up to adults. Participants will be given the chance to choose from instruments such as the trombone, cornet and Trumpet.
The first free taster session will be held on 6th November, Thursday at the Batley Music Centre which is situated on 483, Bradford Road, Batley. Batley Music School is part of the Kirklees Music School. It is one of 7 centres operated across Kirklees. Here, musicians of all abilities and ages practice together formed in groups. The bass teacher of the school is Mr. Kingham and will teach in the free sessions. Places are limited, so please reserve your space for child or adult. Free taster sessions on American Football by Swindon Storm club
The Storm club of Swindon is presently offering free taster-sessions in American Football, on every Saturday, in an effort to promote the sport. The free sessions are on weekends and are being held at the Swindon RFC’s headquarters (Greenbridge Road), starting at 10:30AM. Players new to the game can try out non-contact or full contact. No previous experience is needed and all equipment are provided.
Among the council’s volunteer sports clubs, the Sport Forum Storm has attained ‘gold standard’ for professionalism. A sports development grant have been awarded for £1,127 to its members, which goes to the coaching development programme of the club and accrediting the next generation of such coaches. Daniel Murphy, the Storm club’s media manger, pointed out that investing in coaches is key, as without them the sport cannot function. Currently 90% of coaches have never played the sport and have to be taught all skills from scratch, he rightly added. The free sessions will hopefully rope in new players for the sport.
