Nottingham recreates history with Robin Hood Pageant
Nottingham will return to the Middle Ages from 23rd to 25th October, when they host the famous Robin Hood Pageant. The Nottingham Castle grounds will be transformed into a medieval village to hos it. Visitors will be travel back to the 12th century, to relive the life and times of the legend of Robin Hood.
Also Night Jousts will be held on 23rd October night (Friday) and 24th October night (Saturday), from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Watch Robin Hood and his Merry Men take on the Sheriff of Nottingham and his henchmen, on and off horseback, with swords, lances and fire. There will be entertainment by minstrels and street performers in the illuminated village, a torch-lit procession and fine artists’ performances too. The crowd can meet Robin Hood, the Merry Men and other interesting costumed characters, or even Kind Richard I and experience living history demonstrations. There’s also a medieval ale house selling ales and meads, Heather Ale and local beer.
Nottingham City Council’s councillor Dave Trimble said the council is proud to present this fantastic annual celebration of Robin Hood. The Robin Hood Pageant is a celebration among many events being held, to celebrate Nottingham’s hero and famous outlaw, that runs from 16th to 31st October. The Sponsorship and Event Manager at The Nottingham said they are happy to support and sponsor the free event.
Halloween fun at free Gainsborough event
Gainsborough town will be staging a spectacular day for Halloween on 31st October (Saturday) offering family fun and lots of spooky activities for all. With support from Gainsborough Town Council and West Lindsey District Council, the Independent Group will be in charge, with shops and businesses coming together for hosting the free event.
The fun starts off at the town centre from 9:00am. There will be Halloween themed games, Sci-fi characters, music and dance with fair ground rides and market stalls. A fancy dress parade will begin from the town centre and proceed to Marshall’s Yard and winners will be announced. From 2pm to 5pm visitors here can take part in a pumpkin design competition. Centre manager of Marshall’s Yard, Alison Hall, said they love Halloween in Gainsborough and everyone ha worked to put together this fantastic free event across the town.
