Free medical emergency tube available for bikers
Motorcyclists in the North West are encouraged to get a free medical emergency device that can provide vital medical information to emergency services, in the case of an accident.
Ridesafe Backsafe in association with Lancashire County Council have urged bikers to use the free Mediform Tube, an airtight, waterproof container that can hold medical information that is vital. A medical history, information of medication, allergies, personal information, etc can be stored and retrieved by emergency services, from the tube, if the biker cannot respond verbally, or is not in a state to do so.
The tube is designed to be conveniently attached to the key-ring of the bike. A sticker on the helmet of the biker informs people of the tube the biker is carrying. This device is based on the CRASH Card concept developed by the Ambulance Motorcycle Club. The information can help medicos to provide quickly, the safest treatment and in such critical situations, save a life or identify the biker.
Bristol City Council to distribute free garden waste bins
Now disposing off garden waste is simple as Bristol City Council will distribute 1,000 garden waste bins between 1st and 5th of October 2012. Claim for the free waste bin and also sign up to get the collection service by calling on 0117 352 5930 between 9am and 5pm this week.
To get the garden waste collection service you are required to sign up with them on an annual charge of £29. Being an optional service, garden waste can be collected in bins or sacks and is chargeable. You can also take the green waste to any one of Bristol’s Household waste Recycling Centres free of cost.
You are allowed to use the garden waste bin only to dump in with wastes such as grass cuttings, flowers and plants, hedge prunings, leaves and bark, plants, twigs, weeds, sawdust and straw. But you are not allowed to dump in with things like cardboard, soil and turf, Japanese knotweed, compost, stone or rubble, plant pots, cat, treated wood, dog or other pet litter, nappies, vacuum cleaner contents, plastic, metal or glass and any other household waste.
Weekly collection of garden waste will be done at the kerbside on your normal collection day. You may also book for the collection service by calling up customer service centre on 0117 922 2100.
You will be responsible for the garden waste bin and sacks and must see to that they do not get damaged. No refund will be done if you move out of the Bristol boundary. However, you are required to take the garden waste bin/ sack with you if you move to another part of Bristol. On giving them your new address prior to two weeks you will be entitled to receive their service continuously thereafter.
Skype provides free Wi-Fi access
Good news for all internet buffs out there as Skype is all set to launch free Wi-Fi across UK. It will cover restaurants, cafes and shops. To enjoy this facility, users need to sign in through Skype Wi-Fi and then log-on to the internet free of charge. Acquired by Microsoft, Skype provides Wi-Fi access to millions of customers all over the UK on ‘paid-for’ basis.
Currently Wi-Fi service is not free and is provided at businesses and airports. This service will be provided along with Wicoms and those who require this service need to pay an amount of £9.99 a month. According to Wicom, Wi-Fi access in shops and restaurants will bring in competition between high street and online retailers and at the same time help customers use their smartphone to interact with the shop.

Here is an offer for free cavity-wall insulation and loft insulation to all home-owners and tenants, by North Lincolnshire council. The funding for this project is made by the energy company E.on but is subject to some conditions. It depends on availability of funding, the size of the property or house and subject to survey.
The installation is normally done quick and easy, taking no more than a half day to finish. The loft insulation is laid like a blanket over the floor of the loft and over joists. The cavity-wall insulation material is actually injected inside from the outside, filling the space or cavity found betwixt the inner and outer walls. All this insulation help the rooms to keep the heat from escaping off and thereby reduce energy bills of the home-owners or tenants.
