Wembley martial arts school offers free self-defence sessions
In support of the Anti-bullying Week, a martial arts school in Wembley, the Wembley Choi Kwang Do Martial-Arts School, will be offering free a 2-session self-defence class. The class will be run by an instructor of the school, Master Keith Banfield.
Young participants will be separated into groups according to age. One group for 5 to 11 year-olds and the other of 11 years and above. They will learn self-confidence and self esteem and also how to diffuse situations on ground. The sessions will be held at Barkham Primary School, situated on Danethorpe Road in Wembley. The free sessions will be held on 17 November, Monday, from 6.00pm to 7.15pm; and on 20 November, from 7.15pm to 8.00pm. Donations for anti-bullying charities will be accepted. Free workshop in wood-crafting at Milton Keynes
Free workshops teaching the importance of coppicing, woodland maintenance and learning to make spoons and stools in wood, will be held in Milton Keynes, at the Milton Keynes Art Centre in Parklands, Great Linford. Young people and their families from here can join the free workshops. Also award-winning architects belonging to the Royal Institute of British Architects will work with children and young people from 4 neighbouring estates at the ‘A Space for Possibilities’ event, where temporary structures will be put up around the arts centre’s grounds. Free tennis taster sessions at Wilberfoss
Preceding the introduction of the programme- ‘I Can Play Tennis’, to Wilberfoss, East Riding, the experienced tennis coach Matt Ward, will be encouraging more people, particularly the youngsters, to take up playing tennis with free taster-sessions. Throughout this winter, Wilberfoss will be the new venue for expert coaching in tennis. Free taster-sessions in tennis are being arranged on two days. One on 13 November (Thursday), at Community Centre (in the indoors), from 3.45pm to 4.45pm, for 4 to 6 year-olds, and later from 4.45pm to 5.45pm for 6 to 7 year-olds. Another one is on 16 November (Sunday), at Wilberfoss Tennis Club (in the outdoors), from 2pm to 3pm, for 8 to 11 year-olds, and later from 3pm to 4pm, for 11 to 16 year-olds.
After the free taster sessions, from the following week, full tennis coaching will start running on the same times and days. The coach said that a team of DBS-checked coaches will group the players according to ability.
