Free sessions at Great British Tennis Weekends in Lincolnshire
Once again tennis fever will be soon gripping the nations in the lead to Wimbledon. Free opportunities are being offered to try out the tennis racket thanks to the Great British Tennis Weekends. People of Lincolnshire get the opportunity to experience Mini Tennis, Cardio Tennis, disability tennis and tennis coaching for free. The drive comes from the LTA and Tennis Foundation, to get more people into playing tennis more often. Those trying out the sport will be provided rackets and balls, whether a new comer or regular player.
Venues participating in free sessions include Washingborough Tennis Club, Tealby Tennis Club, Horncastle Tennis Club, Grantham Tennis Club, David Lloyd at Burton Waters and Collingham Tennis Club. Upcoming Great British Tennis Weekends fall on the Saturdays and Sundays of 13 & 14 June, and 1 & 2 of August. Sport Manager Lynsey Norris, at Lincolnshire Sport said they are excited by the event coming to Lincolnshire during this summer and that there is really something for everyone with clubs across the county participating. Norfolk and Norwich Open Studio event showcases talent
Artists across the county are participating in a Norfolk-wide celebration of art, by opening up their studios to the public. From 23 May, the county becomes one giant gallery, showcasing artists working and living locally, from painters to potters to jewellery makers, the event is a 16-day celebration of art. Into its 21st year, it is believed to be one of the biggest events of its kind, with more than 450 artists, spread across 240 venues and 10 schools, displaying their work.
The free event will run until 7 June. Art lovers will be able to see individual exhibitions and studios and also follow 17 trails that link up various artists across areas ranging from Castle Acre to Norwich. Norfolk and Norwich Festival is organising the whole free event in association with Wex Photographic and in partnership with Norfolk artists. Norfolk and Norwich Open Studio has a free booklet listing all artists participating, which is available from various venues of the city and county, and also online at the site- nnopenstudios.org.uk.
Many free events at StonyLive festival in Stony Stratford
The annual StonyLive event returns to Stony Stratford again this June. The popular StonyLive event started some 16 years back, is packed with 10 days of entertainment, of which many are free. A variety of events in arts and entertainment, family and children’s events will be hosted. There will be also all styles of music, literature, poetry, art, talk, dance, drama, food and drink. There’s also walks, fairs, vintage cars and allotments. The varied events will be at many venues, like in pubs, restaurants, community centres, churches, parks, the courtyards and streets. Local talents will be showcased.
Most are free events, some have a nominal free, but the festival gives access to all members of the community and creative talent of the town get right behind the festival. It is a highlight of the busy calendar of Stony Stratford, with talent supported by, not only the local community, but by the many visitors coming to the town. The many free events and entertainment start on 6th June and go on until 14th June.
