Warrington Museum to host free event Rotten Luck
Warrington Museum will be hosting on 13th May, Friday, a free event called ‘Rotten Luck’. The show will feature the town’s horrible history of more than 300 years, with display cases featuring a mummy, numerous scary dolls and a cursed head. The free event is part of the celebration- Culture 24’s Museums at Night. The celebration aims to throw open the doors of the museums and galleries after hours and put on special events to attract new visitors.
Last year saw a successful launch for Halloween. So, Culture Warrington is again teaming up with Blackwood Events, the Warrington acting group, for the show. There are 3 performances, suitable for visitors aged 12 and above, on 13th May at 5:45pm, 6:30pm and 7:15pm. It includes a short film with live experimental electronica music accompanying. Rotten Luck is a free entry event, but to experience it, places must be booked ahead. Call on phone to 442345. Those visitors who are under 16 years, must be accompanied by an adult.
Rathlin Sound Maritaime Festival is back
Great events are in store for the Rathlin Sound Maritime Festival, being held at the Causeway Coast, Northern Ireland, towards the end of May. Back in its 4th year, the week-long festival runs from 27th May to 4th June. The Rathlin Maritime Festival is a celebration of the stretch of waters between Ballycastle and the island of Rathlin, and centred around Rathlin Sound, found in this stretch.
The festival has a packed programme, with events and activities lined-up in Rathlin and Ballycastle. It is organised by the council along with the Ballycastle Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Ballycastle Community Development Group and the Rathlin Development and Community Association.
Visitors can enjoy the Sailing Regetta and races, the have-a-go- activities, guided walks, demonstrations, exhibitions, talks and tours, food and craft markets and fun competitions. There ‘s also friendly giants, currach, Tall Ship and Viking Ships. Choose from family friendly events. Music highlights include Sea shanty groups Hooks and Crooks, Folk with Aoife Scott, Altagore Folk Rock, Country with Lisa McHugh Dance and Molgoggers.
