Free fun events at Guildford Fringe festival
The Guildford Fringe Festival started in 2013 will be returning this year too, to be held from 1st July to 26th July. The Guildford town centre will be hosting the free events across 11 venues, featuring events in a variety of arts, that includes comedy, music, dance, burlesque, theatre, cabarets, kids shows, talks and exhibitions. The festival shows how Guildford is full of artists. 60% of participants, artist of all kind, were from Guildford or surrounding areas, in 2013.
The festival is a platform to trial the work of performers and producers who would be heading to, what is considered, the biggest fringe festival in the world, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Last year the Guildford fringe attracted more than 3,000 people and the festival is expected to be bigger than ever this year and draw in a huge audience. Nick Wyschna, the artistic director, said they have this year an amazing line-up of free events and are adding all the time new events. Free outdoor learning workshop offered at Barnard Castle
A one day free workshop is being offered on the 27th June during the weekend, on Saturday, on ways of engaging both children and the youth in outdoor & environmental learning. The Heart of Teesdale Landscape Partnership is providing this workshop at the Barnard Castle, Teesdale, County Durham, which is a course that aims to engage pre-school children as well as Key Stage 1 aged school children with the local landscape. The free workshop is part of the Woodland Wonders project of Heart of Teesdale. The workshop gives training to both primary school teaching staff and early years practitioners and also early years students. As spaces are limited those interested should book early. Free table tennis sessions at Tollesbury
Those who would like to try out table tennis, have a great opportunity to try it out free at the Tollesbury Table Tennis Club, which is based at Tollesbury Parish Rooms, which is on Church Street in Tollesbury. The club is looking out for new players and members to join the club. The club wishes to launch another team, a C team, considering the upcoming season. The Tollesbury TTC is having their inaugural open session on the coming Saturday, 27th June. The free sessions will be offered to players with no age or standard requirements, from 1:30pm to 4:30pm. Everyone is welcome. The club will provide free of charge the equipment and some refreshments. At hand to share his skills with participants at the free sessions, will be 8-time men’s singles champion of Colchester Table Tennis League, Rik James, who is also a qualified coach of UKCC.
