Victoria Square and National Museums team up to offer free workshops
Teaming up with the National Museums Northern Ireland (NMNI), Belfast’s Victoria Square will be offering around 60 free workshops throughout August. The objective is to showcase the rich historical heritage in one of Belfast’s busiest shopping centres. Museum curators joined by specialist staff, have teamed up to present topics like a mini Docks in the Dome, old Belfast and on transport.
It’s a chance to learn some traditional skills, or show the kids old style street-games, or participate in a craft workshop and do your shopping too. On display, will be highlights of NMNI’s transport collections. This includes a visit by a Crossley racing car and a Ferguson flyer airplane replica.
Laura McCorry of NMNI, said this is a exciting new type of partnership, to deliver in Belfast city centre, a highly engaging museum-inspired experience. She hoped this experience will not just delight visitors to Victoria Square but encourage new audiences to visit their sites, to see the unique collections, all round the year. Taking highlights from the collections out also allows even more people to take part in a wide range of activities and free workshops, suggested Laura McCorry. Free music festival coming to Dreamland
Dreamland, the pleasure park on the Margate seafront in the south-eastern tip of Kent, is all set to host a free music festival. The surprise show will have a very special guest to headline the show and whose identity will not be disclosed until at the show. The park announced the surprise ‘Sunset Session’ on 20 July, following a highly successful festival, the Demon Dayz, that took place in June. The music festival will be held on 29 July, Saturday. The mystery guest on the day will be joined by The Cuban Brothers, the festival favourites, and also DJ Danny Howard of BBC Radio 1, all set outdoors on the all-new Scenic Stage.
Dreamland Margate’s Director of Events and Programming, Rebecca Ellis, said they are really excited to announce this Sunset Session surprise show, which earlier have proved to be highly popular, having so much going on at night, as well as the day, in the park. Here’s the chance to eat, drink, enjoying live music during summer evenings and with a wristband offer.
The Sunset Sessions run every Saturday night, during summer and has free entry. The special wristband offer gives unlimited rides for big and small kids, but at a price.
