Grab free tickets to Festwich, the popular tribute festival
The highly popular rock and indie tribute festival Festwich which is a free 2-day evnt returning for the 6th year on 30 July and 31 July at St. Mary’s Park, Prestwich. Revellers get the opportunity at the festival to enjoy more than 30 top tribute acts to the best rock & roll bands of the world for free. It will host tribute acts, to bands like Guns and Roses, Coldplay, Metallica and ACDC, to take to the stage. Other acts include The Antartic Monkeys, The Rozzers, Daft Punx, Blackrose, Kings On Leon and others.
Jools Taylor, the organiser, said they are excited and looking forward to have the 6th year of the festival, which has grown beyond expectations and finds people, not only from the UK but also Europe, coming to Festwich and Prestwich. The organisers have increased capacity from the 7,500 last year to 10,000 people. The free tickets however have a booking charge of £3.50. Welcome to Ayrshire steam train event in weekend
Relive a little bit of Ayrshire’s past on 16 July (Sunday) and 17 July (Monday), when you visit the Scottish Industrial Railway Centre this weekend, in Dunaskin, near Ayr. Unpaid volunteers of the Ayrshire Railway Presentation Group operate the centre. The centre is open to visitors offering them short hauls in a brake van, each Sunday, from 11am to 4:30pm, until the end of August.
Ironstone and coal mining was started in the Dunaskin site by the Dalmellington Iron Company in 1848, with coal production going on till 1978 at various points. Visitors from far and wide are welcome. The centre will receive a group from Bristol, who were here 10 years ago, at the Ayrshire railway museum, this weekend.
On Monday, you can join countryside rangers of East Ayrshire Leisure Trust to explore the natural beauty surrounding the Scottish Industrial Railway Centre. In this free event you will be having a close look at the local wildlife. It is suable for young families and just have to wear suitable footwear. Places are limited, with first come, first served basis. Come to the railway visitor centre at 1pm, for the roughly 1 hour walk.
