Newport to host its seventh The Big Splash festival
The Big Splash festival returns to the streets of Newport (south east Wales) for the 7th year, with live music dance and theatre. The free family festival is coming this weekend on Saturday and Sunday. The festal will see a roster packed with performances, street theatre, high-wire performers, slapstick, walkabouts, dance and art workshops popping up around Newport.
Free workshops and activities for under fives will also take place at The Riverfront. Newport Live’s Tiny Tots will host sports activities and a soft place. The Flying Start Team will hold creative workshops. Other events are the England and Welsh theatre workshops of puppetry music and words from ‘Flossy and Boo’.
Visitors can learn circus skills from NoFitState’s circus activity. Wheel Acrobatics will hold beginner sessions on Saturday at Usk Plaza, and on Sunday at John Frost Square. Hands-on gardening experiences will be offered by the Grow Wild Team, on both days of 16th and 17th July, of the festival, at The Riverfront terrace. The event is supported by The Arts Council of Wales and Newport Live and is sponsored by Western Power and Friar Walk.

Free tickets to music special by BBC Radio 2 with Gregory Porter
Free tickets are being offered to the music special to be hosted by BBC Radio 2. The show is with Gregory Porter, the American jazz star. The performance of Porter will be on 21st July, Thursday, at the famous Maida Vale Studios. The liver concert to be broadcast live on Radio 2 and also in vision via their website and also on BBC Red Button. The concert is exclusively for In Concert series which is presented by Jo Whiley. they can listen to tracks from his new album Tke Me To The Alleys. Plus to songs from 3 previous albums.
Listeners to the BBC Radio Theatre broadcasting Gregory’s exclusive tracks through Ken Bruce’s show on Radio 2. There will be interviews ahead and after the performance with host Jo Wilry. Jo will also host with Gregory an exclusive webchat which will be broadcast online. It can be seen on the BBC Radio You Tube channel also. On 20th July, there will be an opportunity on Chris Evans Breakfast Show for a Golden Ticket giveaway.
