A free screenwriter’s workshop will be held at the Crown Centre-based library, the Stourbridge Library, on 28th January (Thursday), from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. The writer and journalist Will Galahagher, who has written plays of Doctor Who for the radio, will be heading the workshop. He is a former winner of the Swan Playwrights Award and has also written about his work as a journalist and on writing, besides writing stage plays.

Cabinet member for health and well-being, Councillor Rachel Harris, said that anyone interested in creative writing, will find the workshop perfect. No previous experience required for this free workshop but as spaces are limited, Stourbridge Library can be contacted to book a place, she added. For information and booking call on phone to 01384 812945.

Free well-being workshop on confidence building at Brixton

A free well-being workshop is being held by Lisa Bent, who runs Self Central, the organisation that promotes personal development and well-being, at Brixton. The workshop is for people to overcome their fears, or self-doubt, or lack of confidence, with the help of the counsellor and DJ. Lisa Bent hosts a radio show Self Central on Sundays. It’s about how people can gain mental well-being. The show at a free event named Push Through, is broadcast live on Colourful Radio. The venue is on Barrington Road, held in Brixton East 1871. The show is followed by the 2-hour free workshop.

The number of teenagers reported with depression and anxiety has increased by 70% in the past 25 years, according to the Mental Health Foundation. Lisa Bent attributes much of this to the impact of social media on the youth. She felt, children suffering from anorexia, anxiety and depression need to be helped to a positive mental state. The radio show is available at www.colourfulradio.com. Visit the website- self-central.com, for information on the event.
