Harry Potter Book Night returns to Stockton Library

The Harry Potter Book Night will be back at the Stockton Library and the free event will offer fun-filled activities for the family, including face-painting, a fancy dress prize, indoor archery, chess, a chance at wand making and many more. Special guests at the event include a magician and also animals and birds from the Kirkleathan Owl Centre.

Cabinet member for arts, leisure and culture at Stockton Borough Council, Councillor Norma Wilburn, said the event is a fantastic opportunity for all in the family to enjoy the wonderful world of witches and wizards, have fun and even win some fantastic prizes, in what’s set to be a magical evening of Harry Potter.

Free tickets are available for the event to be held on 1st February (Thursday), at Stockton Central Library. Book online at the Eventbrite site- hpbnstocktonlibraries.co.uk. There’s an autism friendly session between 4pm and 5pm, while for general admission, it runs from 5pm to 7pm, on the day.

Free event for young people on DIY skills in Bromsgrove

Young people are welcome to a free event being organised by the Bond Street DIY in Bromsgrove, at its store, to learn about basic DIY skills, on 15th February. ‘Essential DIY Skills for Young People’ will include practical live demo on how to tackle many of the common problems found in homes. Demonstrations include changing a bulb, unblocking a sink, isolating electrics and water and others.

On the night of the free event, the first twenty guests getting through the door, will receive a DIY goody-bag for free. The event has been organised owing to mounting evidence that a life skill like DIY is declining fast and so the workshop is aimed at 16 to 30 year-olds. Research by the store point that a once traditionally passed down skill over generations, DIY knowledge, is not getting to young people. To register at the free event for a place, call by phone to 01527-873555, or send an email to broadstdiy@aol.com.
