Free workshop at the VR Diversity Initiative this year
The VR Diversity Initiative (VRDI) is returning soon and will encourage groups that are unrepresented, to get involved in immersive technologies, like Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). VR Focus was involved in 2017 in creating a new type of event. The first VRDI was a successfully held at London’s Digital Catapult.
Now VR Focus is undertaking the first edition of the series in 2018, the Kick-off Event. Nina Salomons of VR Focus will lead the VRDI event to be held on 28th February, in London’s Here East, supported by Hobs Studio. The initiative has a purpose of offering support, opportunities and workshops to groups that are under-represent in media and technology. They include women, Asian, Black, disabled, even LGBT and others under-represented, belonging to XR and tech industry. To address inequality in immersive tech of the future, the initiative is offering to these groups a free workshop.
The expensive hardware is a main barrier for the public to create immersive experiences. In the first of 6 VRDI events, a limited number of attendees will be selected by application. Those selected will be guided by experienced developers of VR, to develop a rough VR prototype, in a single day, for the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. Here participants get to learn the basics of building a project and get confidence to pursue a career in the XR area. Free tickets available to the National Homebuilding & Renovation Show
The National Hombuilding & Renovation Show is sure to give visitors inspiration, hands-on advice and innovative products too, whatever stage a building project is in, while they visit. Evening Standard is teaming up with the National Homebuilding Show organisers to offer 1,000 pairs of free tickets, that’s worth up to £36. The show will also have leading architects, planners and designers covering a wide range of topics, from interior renovation to building extensions.
