O2 offers parents Internet Safety Advice in Isle Of Wight

Isle of Wight’s parents concerned about increasing online safety risks, can approach the staff at O2 in Shanklin and Newport for support. The network operator O2 is joining hands with children’s charity NSPCC in offering a free service of providing advice on how to make a connected device child-friendly and safer, as part of the National Safer Internet Day.

The NSPCC says the O2 stores, not only provide handy safety tips for devices, but anyone asking can learn about workshops that NSPCC can provide. The staff at the O2 Newport store can explain about features which can prevent someone from sharing personal information intentionally, with the help of location services.

Teaming up with the O2 branch of Newport will make a difference for residents here, as parents and carers who use technology for safety aspects find it is key to keeping the children’s online world safe as possible, according to Michelle Barry. She added that carers and parents can fix an appointment, bring in their gadgets, whether a tablet, or laptop, or mobile phone, hand it over asking to make it safer for their child to the O2 Guru.

The in-store staff, also trained to identify any safeguarding concerns, if they find on the device anything causing concern, can directly call the NSPCC for support and help to safeguard the device owner. For the free service or advice, or booking an appointment for an NSPCC workshop, can call the safety helpline of O2 and NSPCC by Ph:0808-800-5002. Otherwise, they can visit the online safety site of NSPCC.

Essex Big Weekend offers free tickets to tourist attractions

Free tickets will be offered to top tourist attractions across Essex, as part of the Essex Big Weekend, to hundreds of residents. The scheme will offer tickets donated by attractions to residents, for use on 25th and 26th March, which is to encourage people to discover the amazing places and things to do and see in their own county.

The Big Weekend event is a part of a series of campaigns that Visit Essex is planning to boost tourism in the county. Attractions that have offered free tickets include Lee Valley White Water Centre, East Anglian Railway Museum, Adventure Island, Colchester Castle, Barleylands and many more. Those free to enter attractions will also offer a range of extras, like events, guided tours or special gifts.

Carol Jolly, marketing and PR manager of Visit Essex, said they are thrilled with the response to the event from local businesses who have signed up and hope more will follow. The Bid Weekend is a great way to ignite excitement and kick-start the tourist season in the county, for residents, its biggest advocates, she added. Carol Jolly remarked that it’s easy to forget or entirely miss the unique and wonderful attractions right on our doorstep.
