Free tickets to Radio One’s Big Weekend
This year’s BBC Radio One’s Big Weekend will be held at Powderham Castle, south of Exeter (Devon). Traditionally the event is free ticketed with a rule of one-pair per person. This year they can be applied for from 21st March. The 50,000 tickets offered for the festival in 2014 at Glasgow, were gone in a little over 30 minutes. Festival goers in the last few years had to pay a small booking fee for the tickets given away online.
As with previous festivals, the chance of getting a free ticket are given to those living nearer to the venue. Those who wish to attend have to go the website of BBC Radio 1 to apply. Thereafter, pairs of tickets will be allocated at random to applicants. Commenting on the incident where some tried to sell their tickets ahead of last year’s festival at Norwich, a spokesman for Radio 1 said then that those trying to sell tickets are breaking the rules they agreed while booking and Radio 1 reserves the right to cancel tickets. However, there are rules to stop this. Passport-type photographs are being required for the application process now. Information regarding the free tickets and the line-ups will be announced in the coming months by Radio 1, for the Big Weekend in Powderham Castle.
