Free Easter Bush bus may become a reality
Now pressure is being mounted upon the University of Edinburgh demanding for Free Bus Service to travel to the Easter Bush campus. This campaign has been organised by the Vet School Council and Edinburgh University Students’ Association (EUSA). The main focus of this campaign is to collect signatures from 400 vet students of this university and other university students.
Currently, the university pays £14,000 every month to Lothian Buses in order to drive buses to the campus, while the students and teachers pay full charge for the shuttle service they take.
President of EUSA has also agreed to the fact that the student bus fare is unfair when compared to the original cost of £1.30 per trip or £468 per year for the bus pass. This would be in addition to the hidden course costs levied on the vet students.
According to the EUSA Academic Services Convenor, Mr Hugh Murdoch said that he is sure to win this campaign as it is unfair for the students studying at Easter Bush campus to pay hefty bus fares each year while other universities have made necessary subsidy. He also added that with this campaign the university is sure to provide free bus for the Easter Bush campus.
