New Year’s Eve Midnight Fireworks is returning to NewcastleGateshead Quayside

Here’s a great way to welcome 2018 with a bang and it’s free. NewcaslteGateshead Quay will see the return of New Year’s Eve Midnight fireworks. The free event is hack by popular demand and so Newcastle Gateshead Initiative in partnership with NE1 have announced its return on the midnight of New Year’s Eve.

All are welcome to herald the New Year 2018, at the stroke of midnight, coming to Newcastle city, to watch the traditional fireworks display light up the Tyne, set against the fabulous backdrop of the iconic seven bridges. This free event and special display has been made possible by the support of the local quayside businesses.

The SURVIVORS, an exhibition by AIDS Since the 80s Project

An art exhibition as part of the AIDS Since the 80s Project, now at City Hall in London, marks the World AIDS Day 2017 and is running from 4th December to 5th January,. The art displayed at the exhibition is by Danielle-van-Zadelhoff, the celebrated artist, who was commissioned the work. It was to make portraits of some of the long-term survivors who are affected by HIV. In-depth interviews have been given by them to the project and those interviews can be found in the London Metropolitan Archives. The interviews are left as a resource valuable to generations to come. These people have been pictured by the artist.
Artist Dannielle said that in these portraits she has tried to capture the fragile beauty in imperfection and a reflection of their strength. It is her fist solo exhibition in UK. These survivors are witness to our history and the project is close to her heart, she added. The exhibition which has free entry and is curated by Paul Coleman and Adam Roberts, aims to use art to remove the stigma attached to HIV.
