Free workshop on making Christmas wreaths at Baytree Garden Centre
Learn how to make a handmade Christmas wreath at free workshops run by Baytree Garden Centre, at Watson, in Spalding (Lincolnshire). Sue Worth is running the free wreath-making sessions in Bulbland, which are being held every Thursday, right up to Christmas. She has been involved in horticulture for most of her life and is a manger of the plant area.
Sue Worth says a beautiful looking Christmas wreath can be created by anyone, even by those without any experience. You can make them as you like, as they are your own wreaths, she said. Everybody will be given a bare wire frame with florists wire. The frame, in the shape of a ring, will first have to get moss rolled on to it, to make the first layer full. All the materials are locally available or cultivated. Next steps are to add the accessories, such as fir cones, spruce, Leylandi, holly, lotus seed heads, etc. and wrap them with wire to fix it all on the ring and then add finishing touches.
Materials will be supplied at the free workshop sessions. Those who wish to take away their finished Christmas wreath, have to give just £5 to the organisers, which is significantly lesser than a ready-made wreath. To book a seat at the workshop, contact Baytree by calling on 01406-370242.
