Free children’s films in Sky Cinema Movie Bus this weekend in Cardiff
The Sky Cinema Movie Bus is a cinema with a difference and is screening children’s films for free, as a part of NSPCC’s Christmas campaign. The 80-seater movie bus is coming to Cardiff on 9th December, Saturday, to show free children’s films from 10am to 5pm, parked outside the Cardiff Castle.
Films to be shown include classics like The Magic Reindeer and The Muppet Christmas Carol. Shows will include Disney’s shorts that are between 20 and 25 minutes in length. Besides the free screening, there will be appearances of some favourite film characters and face painting too. There’s free entry and they will be shown on a first come, first served basis.
The visit of the movie bus is in support of NSPCC’s campaign – Light Up Christmas for Children, while it is touring UK’s cities in the festive season. It is backed by Wales Online, which is working to raise money for the Childline service of NSPCC, based in Cardiff, which is short of resources. It wants to reach out to more young people who desperately need help. Childline had carried out 8,853 counselling sessions with children from Wales, last year alone.
Des Mannion, head of NSPCC Cymru/Wales, said they want as many people as possible to see the movie bus on Saturday and get behind their campaign. He added that the Sky Movie Bus should help to get everyone into the the festive spirit and there’s plenty to entertain the children and families, on a enjoyable fun day out.
Tranmere Rovers to kick off Christmas celebrations with free carol concert
Tranmere Rovers will kick off the club’s Christmas celebrations, at Rovers’ Prenton Park, hosting the carol concert. Taking place on 23rd December, Saturday, the free family event, which is a part of the Super White Christmas initiative of the club, will be held at the Recreation Centre. A host of activities and events have been organised, including a nativity performance, with the carol concert, for the festive period. Organised for the benefit of the local community, there will be kids craft, a Santa’s visit and refreshments available. Additionally, the club is also hosting a Christmas party, for adults who suffer from dementia, on 21st December, Thursday.
Rovers will host on Christmas Day the Wirral Christmas Dinner. It’s for those who are independently living, having left the care system, for those 16 to 25 year olds, with no family system. The local homeless community and those alone at Christmas, will be welcomed on Boxing Day to share a hot meal and enjoy the football.
