Aylesbury hosts free children’s events
Every Thursday in the school holidays, a free children’s events, such as the animal petting, are being held at Aylesbury town. Research has found that such kid’s activity attracted to the town an average of 2,000 children and adults, helping Aylesbury’s shops to cope with the country’s recession affecting them these days. 82% of the visiting crowd, were observed, will either go shopping or buy things to eat and drink at Aylesbury. So, cafés and restaurants get prepared to cope with the increased demand during these free events.
The events are being funded by a group of councils and businesses, called Aylesbury Town Centre Partnership, which has seen this gives people living nearby a reason to visit Aylesbury. These free events have proven to be so popular that the Association of Town Centre Manages are advising such small towns to follow this example. Forthcoming free events include- “Summer Speedway” on Thursday, August 23, from 11am to 3pm; “Farmers Meet” on Tuesday, August 28 from 9am to 2pm; “Magic Show” on Thursday, August 30, at 11.30, 12.30pm, 1.30om and 2.30pm. Of around 300 free events held each year, about 54, including Thursday activities, are organised by the Aylesbury partnership.

Free training events
As always training events for organisations and workers will be conducted by South Belfast Roundtable and Belfast City Council Good Relations Unit. Places are available on first come first serve basis. Interested persons are advised to email higginsmargaret (at) belfastcity.gov.uk to get the details of the programme and also to book for a place. Further details of the training programme are as given below.
• Migrant Awareness Training will be conducted by the staff of Good Relations Unit and by South Belfast Roundtable during a half day workshop. This programme will be conducted on 14th of September (Grosvenor House, Glengall Street, Belfast), 3rd of October (Park Inn, (off Bedford Street, Belfast)) and 30th of November (Grosvenor House, Glengall Street, Belfast) between 9:30am and 1:30pm.
• Ending Hate in our Communities Training will concentrate on certain issues such as harassment, bais and hate crimes existing in the community and its impact. Also, measures that should be taken to respond and prevent such crimes will be covered in this programme. It will be conducted on 27th of September, 16th of October and 5th of December between 9:30am and 1:30pm. (Venue: Grosvenor House, Glengall Street, Belfast).
This half day workshop programme is supported by the European Union’s European Regional Development fund through the Peace III programme for Northern Ireland and also the border region under the Belfast Peace Plan. Cheers!

BBC Radio 3 will be broadcasting 3 weeks of the Free Thinking Festival. The festival returns to The Sage, Gateshead, from 2nd to 4th of November. Mary Robinson, the former President of Ireland and UN High-Commissioner for Human Rights, will deliver the opening lecture of the programme. Key speakers lined up consist of Tom Holland, Amos Oz, Colm Toibin, Michael Ignatieff, Mona Siddiqui, Philippa Gregory, Tony Harrison and Lee Hall. There’ll also be poetry, music and drama, plus more events will be added in the coming weeks. “Them and Us” is the theme of this year, which focuses on whether our world is really becoming more divided. Discussion will be on how we define ourselves in relation to others, of social inequality and difference. Free cycling training programme for adults
Want to improve your cycling skills? Then, don’t worry at all as a free adult cycling training session will be provided by Cycling Instructor Ltd funded by NHS Bath & North East Somerset and Bath & North East Somerset Council. About 120 spaces will be allowed on first come first serve basis for this training session which will be conducted for 2 hours for seven days a week.
According to the Councillor Roger Symonds, Cabinet Member for Transport, bicycles are the best means of transport for general people with regards to the persisting pollution and traffic congestion. Participants will receive guidelines regarding their travel and method of cycle usage. The session will guide participants to ride safely with confidence on the road posing no threat to the commuters. Once your tickets have been booked, the instructor will contact you to fix your convenient time, date and location for the training session.
