Free event for children across venues in King’s Lynn
Many venues will be joining hands in King’s Lynn to put on a free event for children of all ages on 23rd August, Sunday, called ‘Fairy Tales and Legends’. The event is being organised by the West Norfolk Council and the Vancouver Quarter. The event will see a dragon roam he streets, the Corn Exchange being transformed into Sherwood Forest, a bean-stalk growing in the Tuesday Market Place, Rapunzel up in the Clifton Towers, Thumbelina presented at Guildhall Theatre by the Norwich Puppet-Theatre and also the Snow Queen Elsa present here.
Cabinet member for culture, heritage and health, Elizabeth Nockolds of the borough council, remarked that a huge range of activities and workshops are being offered to children to make puppets or write stories, or just have fun. Visitors at stop-points along the way can see street theatre, or partake in activities, or see storytelling bookworms in the town centre along with Cinderella and Prince Charming. Free taster sessions on advanced riding offered by IAM
The IAM or Institute of Advanced Motorists is launching a giveaway promotion of free taster sessions in advanced riding at 12 locations over England and also across Wales. A bike licence holder who likes to improve his skills up the next level will be entitled to a 1 hour taster session free, with an IAM qualified instructor, as part of its largest giveaway promotion ever and as part of the charity’s ongoing goal to improve the riding and driving standards of road users in the county. Not only does IAM want to cut down the numbers of causality on roads but want bike riders enjoy their riding by gaining such extra riding skills on the sessions.
Normally the session is worth £45 per person, but those wishing to take advantage of this free taster session have to book a place by the end of September. Riders interested in the free session can visit the webpage- www.iam.org.uk/bikemoments. Bike riders are also encouraged to share their love for biking on IAM’s Facebook pages or Twitter handle. Those taking part, get a chance to win free tickets to the Motorcycle Live show running from 28th November to 6th December, at Birmigham NEC, which really is a must-see for bike enthusiasts. Arts in Activism, free premiere of Liverpool’s music festival
A new youth music project called SA to UK: Arts in Activism will be premiered by the Liverpool International Music Festival on 30th August. The pioneering event is being presented by Africa Oye, working with ‘Nothing But the Music’, and features the work of two yung Souse acts. One is rapper Merki Waters and the other Roxanne L. Jones, the singer. They have worked with Tresor, the singer-songwriter and Ncebakazi Yeko, in South Africa.
On 30th August there will be a live performance , which will be held at District in the
Baltic Triangle. DJ Ace of BBC Radio 1Xtra will host the free event. Special guest performances will be by KOF, Silverstone, DJ Esa Williams, a,ong with Shaimag and Siphokazi’s voices, musicians based in South Africa. A partnership between Liverpool Music Festival and Steve Biko Housing Association Liverpool with Steve Biko Foundation-SouthAfrica, has created the free event– SA to UK: Arts in Activism it will be hosted on 30th August at :00PM, LIMF Academy, Sefton Park and at 7:00PM, the Picket/District, at Liverpool.
