Pride Festival brings Vengaboys to Carlisle for free event
Cumbria’s Pride Festival will host a free event – the performance by famous Dutch pop group, Vengaboys, in Carlisle. Hosted by Cheri Treiffel, it will be held on 14 June, Saturday, in the City Centre, from 1:00PM tp 5:00PM. The first Cumbria Pride event was held in 2011 and ever since it has gained popularity and prominence.
This year’s event will feature music from – X Factor winner Matt Cardle, Bears Aloud, former Pussycat Doll- Kimberly Wyatt, Allan Jay, Stevie D from Superfly, Liam Moorhouse and others. The event will have stalls and has no age restrictions.
The LGBT HQ in Carlisle has Pam Eland saying that the Cumbria Pride festival celebrates people’s sexuality and strives for better understanding of the issues by people, so everyone are welcome to celebrate diversity at this festival.
Free workshop for families, ‘Living With Dogs’, at Wood Green
The animal shelter of Godmanchester with the education team of Wood Green conducts free ‘Living With Dogs’ workshops. The team thought of the idea about five years ago. Acting senior education officer at Wood Green, Emma Hudgell, said they were shocked by lack of awareness of dog behaviour by children. So they went on to create a workshop for this, and even adults could do with some advice, she said.
The Living With Dogs workshop is for both people with a dog and for those planning to get a pooch. Children and parents are put in separate sessions that last 2 hours, with the training and behaviour consultant of Good Green. Kids learn about dog body language. The sessions are totally interactive. They also learn to make enrichment toys. The sessions are a useful experience, being interesting, informative and also fun. Ages suitable for the session are 5 years and above. The next workshop of Living With Dogs is on 27 April, Sunday, starting from 1:00PM up to 3:00PM.
