Intu Trafford Centre to host free family festival ScienceX
ScienceX is the free family festival scheduled this weekend at intu Trafford Centre. The festival is aimed at getting children excited about science and is being hosted on 14th and 15th April (across Saturday and Sunday) by more than 120 volunteers of The University of Manchester.
The event over the weekend will have a variety of activities, including VR experiences, coding with robots and kids get the chance to fly their own plane using a flight simulator specially made, available between 10am and 9pm, on Saturday, for them to fly. They also can get their hands on with physics and an opportunity to make real clouds. A workshop – ‘Coding With Robots’, will be run alongside a series fun lessons on composites, enzymes and graphene.
Children can learn about nuclear power, the solar system and climate change, on Sunday, between 12noon and 6pm, in a line-up of workshops for them. The Formula Student class will be working with families and visitors, across the two days, to construct an F1 racing car.
The Social Responsibility Project Manager, Fran Guratsky, from FSE, says they want the public to come and explore about science and engineering in a fun day for the whole family, at ScienceX, He went on to say that anyone can turn scientist or engineer for the day, with plenty of hands-on opportunities and experiments, plus meet the University’s world-leading researchers, who are at solving some of the biggest mysteries of the world.
The festival is a free event over the weekend and various locations at intu Trafford Centre will host various events. The details and listings for the whole weekend can be seen at website for intu Trafford Centre (intu.co.uk/traffordcentre/events/sciencex-returns-to-intu-trafford-centre).
