Get ready for the 20th annual Kids Week
The 20th annual Kids Week returns fo the whole of August this year. Over 35 top London shows have been announced offering free tickets and activities for children and families, by the London theatre initiative organised by Society of London Theatre. What started in 1998 has grown over the year to reach to more than 1.2 million children and families.
Kids Week encourages young people to experience live theatre. It is one of the world’s longest running initiatives for audience development. The very youngest ogf the audience can enjoy the recommended under 5 sho options. It includes What The Ladybird Heard, We’re Going On A Bear Hunt and others. Whereas ages 5 plus get Adventures of Pinocchio, Adventures In Wonderland, Anne, Matilda The Musical and others. The list of shows are available on the website- kidsweek.co.uk.
A great range of free tickets, activities and events are offered during Kids Week, which includes everything from storytelling to stage combat workshops and choreography to backstage tours. The full list can be seen on the Kids Week website. During the Kids Week, children aged 16 or above can accompany a paying adult for free, or 2 children can accompany at half price. There’s no transaction, postage or booking fees. Additionally available are many Kids Go Free deals on hotels, dining and tours, for ticket holders. Tickets are on sale from 13th June (Tuesday) from 10am.
St. Albans city centre to host Mini Beast Roadshow
As part of the ‘Natural World’ event, snakes, frogs and reptiles will be on display as the Mini Beast Roadshow. It is to be held here on 3rd June, Saturday, from 11:00am to 4:00pm, at Christopher Place. Visitors coming in will have the chance to hold giant frogs, snakes, giant frogs and cockroaches. Any questions raised about the creepy creatures will be answered by a team of animal experts on hand here. Catherine Morris, the centre manager, said the roadshow is part of a series of free events they have planned at the centre in the coming months. The roadshow is returning after a very successful visit in the previous year, she mentioned. As part of the centre’s weekend entertainment, a Meraki Festival, a dog day and folk dance will also be hosted. When live entertainment is not available on a day, the central lawn area will be open to children’s activities, including a mud kitchen and tool bench.
