The Dursley DJ Collective is hosting a free workshop for aspiring amateur DJs. Club nights are regularly held once a month at the Chantry Centre. The organisers earned national exposure when Bob Earle, a member of the group, was featured on radio on a Lauren Laverne’s Radio 6 Music show.
The club sessions were launched by 2016 end, as a brainchild of Ben Ward and like-minded group of DJs. The group has been running the sessions regularly for just over a year, with lights, a full sound-system and licensed bar. The free event has been welcomed by hundreds of guests and dozens of amateur DJs. The aims to be as inclusive as possible, with a wide range of genres, played on a variety of formats. With no requirement of skill or age, find here disco, funk, hip hop, indie, reggae, breakbeat, 60s and everything in between, being played.
Forthcoming dates for the club nights are on Saturdays, falling on 3 February, 3 & 31 March and 19 May, nearly every month for the rest of the year. The group is running a taster, a free workshop, on 3 February, between 4pm and 6pm, at Chantry Centre, for aspiring DJs, on how to play, from experienced members, on a range of formats.
