Teignmouth Library to host free computer classes for beginners

September 17th, 2016 by Sandy

The Teignmouth Library will be hosting free computer classes to help beginners to start using the computer and internet. The free classes will start running from 1st October, at 10:00am, and will start once every 2 months, all through the year.

The classes are run by Silver Surfers, a community interest company that helps people to dispel fears, that many older people have, of using a computer or tablet, before they get started online. The director of the company, Bill Deavall, will be using his IT expertise to help people from Teignmouth in Devon. The classes are designed to be informal, friendly and help in building confidence on this new technology.

The course is designed for absolute beginners too, covering basic tasks, how to use email and the internet. People use their new-found skills mainly to keep in touch with family and pursue their interests online, or to get information using devices. It has been running successfully in the libraries of other counties during 2015-16. To enroll into a free class just drop in at Teignmouth Library, or call up Bill Deavall at Silver Surfers, on phone-01684 541892.
