Stratford will be showcasing the work by members of the Guild of Weavers Spinners and Dyers on 16th September (Saturday), at the Methodist Church Hall in Old Town, from 12pm to 3:30pm, on the occasion of World wide Spin in Public Day.
At the free event, members, also hailing from Solihull and Southam, will demonstrate their handiwork of different types, which includes spinning, tapestry, weaving, dying, felt-making, carding, crochet and knitting. Also on sale will be a range of crafted materials and handmade products. Also exhibited will be a range of spinning wheels, fibres and styles, with a chance for visitors to try out spindle spinning, stick weaving or needle felting.
Chris Pegler, the group secretary, said the guild hopes that by demonstrating at the free event, it will encourage interest in future for their crafts and attract new members to join. The guild, active for more than 4 decades, has been demonstrating their skills on a regular basis at Mary Arden’s House. Many of their tapestry work are around Warwickshire on permanent display.
