Story of Good Friday to be enacted outdoors in Reedham.

March 11th, 2017 by Sandy

The story of Good Friday will be staged across 5 outdoor locations in Reedham (Norfolk). The dramatic story of Easter will be enacted on the streets, including a farm and a school, by a team of dedicated amateurs, for the first time ever, on 14th April, Good Friday. The event day will start at Reedham Village Hall, at 12 noon. Refreshments and free parking will be available here. Then the audience can either walk or take the free minibus to the Reedham Primary School. The play begins here at 1:30pm, with the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. The other scenes will be enacted nearby and the end of the play, with the crucifixion, will be at Ferry farmyard, on Station Road, to end by around 3pm, after which audience can walk or ride back again for refreshments at the Village Hall.

A hundred strong team is working for the Passion Play, which will be acted out by amateur actors to tell the story of Easter, leading up to Jesus Christ’s death. Rev Lorma Allies, the Redhaam associate priest, said although the story is well known, it woil be acted out on the streets of the village in a dramatic way, choosing to bring it out as a community play. The idea sparked on a Reedham church member and took shape with two people involved last spring, to grow to a team of nearly 100, the priest explained. Everyone is welcome to the free event on Good Friday. However, donations will be accepted in aid of the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
