Free open top bus tours are being arranged for tourists in the summer vacation for sight seeing. The Merseyside Transport Trust has declared that they were planning to conduct circular open top bus tours of Southport In the summer holidays. These free tours will be offered completely by volunteers. Commencing from the conventional location of the Southport Pier, the circular excursion would be conducted absolutely free of cost taking people aboard on a sight seeing trip of Southport. These sorts of tours have become quite a well known attraction for tourists since many years.
Starting off where Arrive stopped the previous year, the trips are supposed to be conducted utilising Leyland’s famous Atlanteans. These vehicles had been used for these tourist trips since many years and they have now been preserved; 1449 (GKA 499L) and 1551 (OLV551M). During inclement weather, they would replace the open top buses with a closed top vehicle. .
The excursions take people through the wonderful Southport attractions like Marine Bridge, Royal Birkdale, Marine Lake, Hesketh Park, Botanic Gardens, Golf course and Lord Street Boulevard. The trustee of Merseyside Transport Trust, Mr. Andy Rigby stated that they company felt it was really shameful that visitors to Southport as well as its residents would have to be unable to take open top bus trips. He said that they were anticipating that the open top tours would appeal to tourists in Southport and that they had selected a really pleasant route to show them the city. He mentioned that the trips were totally free of charge and that they felt that it was great to provide such a facility to the people.
The tours will commence on the 29th of July that happen s to be a Sunday and will be conducted every Sunday till the 26th of August. The tour will also be run on Monday the 27th of August that happens to be the August Bank Holiday. The times for departure were scheduled for 12 noon, 1.30 pm and 3.30 pm and the start point would be Southport Pier in front of the carousel.
