Sand, Sea and Spray, free urban art festival kicks-off in Blackpool

July 29th, 2016 by Sandy

The annual Sand, Sea and Spray street art festival has started in Blackpool, making its streets into a free art gallery for international street artists, from Friday to Sunday (over 29th, 30th and 31st July). The street painters will be transforming the walls, of the seaside town in Lancashire, into a canvas for masterpieces of colour.

Some 30 artists will land here to paint at various sites around Blackpool’s town centre. Among the street artists contributing are Fabian Florin of Switzerland, Yiannis Hajdipanayis of Iceland and Ivos Santos of Portugal. Yannis is coming for the first time to Blackpool. The trio will be on Topping Street to paint the wall facing the Iceland store. These artists are part of the group of street artists, the Colour Nomads, whose members travel across the world. Dale Grimshaw is another artist, based in London, but originally from Accrington, who will be here. He said he always liked to come back and paint in this extraordinary free event in Lancashire.
