The annual Robot Day will be hosted in Derby, at the Quad arts centre, on 17th March. This is the 3rd edition of Robot Day and to celebrate the British Science Week, in partnership with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). Quad welcomes the free event that offers a range of many robot related STEAM activities. Find here talks, films and exhibitions for all ages. Visitors can watch robots compete, hear from experts, get hands-on with coding, join in craft and VR experiences and meet a fighting robot.
STEM focused workshops work with IET engineers. People joining as a team can make a working robot and enter a competition event on the day. IET’s school liaison officer for Derbyshire, Stephen Powley, said Britain is facing a acute shortage of technologists and engineers. Robot Day is for young people and those who influence them, to see a great way to find out more about how engineering makes a better world, and the new partnership with QUAD showcases it, he added.
Robot Day is a free event taking place from 10am to 4pm, which is drop-in and open to all ages. The event attracted last year some 850 visitors, but more people are expected this year.
