The Riverside Festival, the 2-day free festival event, is all set with a programme of events to be held across the city over Mile Straight (on River Soar), Western Boulevard the Bede Park and Castle Gardens. The free festival will run from 6th to 7th June. The city’s biggest free event includes activities without age bar, demonstrations, arts and crafts, live entertainment, community stalls and other attractions.
There will be again a charity Dragon Boat racing organised by When You Wish Upon A Star charity. The first race on Saturday will start at 10:30am. Boat trips and demonstrations will be held by the the Leicestershire Fire & Rescue, the Sea Cadets and Paddle Plus paddling group. On the main stage local bands and musicians will be performing. There will be an acoustic stage and also a beer tent.
On the main stage on Sunday, there will be the Sing For Water Choir, the Drum and Brass, and a performance by Sugabeat the pop and soul band. There will be children’s activities and a cafe area on Bede Park by main sponsors, Riverside Housing. Bike based workshops and demonstrations by Ride Leicester and environmental groups in the Greenlight area will be featured. The free festival on Saturday will run from Noon to 7:00pm. On Sunday it will run from Noon to 5:00pm.
