Chairman of Newport Now, Alan Edwards, says that they are pleased to work with and lucky to have Diverse Vinyl, Newport’s own independent record store in the very heart of the city. Matt Jarrett, co-owner of Diverse Vinyl, said Record Store Day has become a fixture on the calendar of every music fan. He added that they have put all their energy into creating a free event in Newport city centre, that will appeal hopefully to both their customers and South Wales’ music fans of all ages, and the shop will open at 9am on the day, with brand new limited editions of over 250. He said they have more than 30 acts in 6 venues covering punk, country, folk, rock, indie, acoustic performances, storytelling and poetry, that starts after the shop closes at 4:30pm.
