In an attempt to win back the angry passengers, Qantas is giving away free flight tickets. Qantas Airways, owning a business alliance with British Airways is spending £12.5m to give 100,000 return economy flights to New Zealand or within the country. Customers have been annoyed with the recent decision of the airline to ground a whole fleet of aircraft amidst an industrial quarrel.
Qantas chief executive, Alan Joyce said that the free tickets offer is a way to apologize to its customers. The airline, expects to win back the customers with this move. The airlines was in middle of dispute with trade unions over their pay and job security. This dispute has resulted in the grounding of Qantas planes. The decision to ground the planes has left tens of thousands of passengers stranded and annoyed.
Any passenger affected by the grounding of Qantas planes can get the first set of free tickets. The renowned airline has assured refund to all passengers. Although, the airline is giving compensations to its customers it is still to solve the disputes with the ground staff union. Free flight tickets will not only help win back the passenger’s admiration and esteem but it will help the company to strengthen its position in the industry.
