There is no parking fee for the Electric cars in the 19 car parks and 4,000 roadside bays in Glasgow.
The subsidiary firm ‘City Parking’ will be offered the necessary finance by the authorities to provide free space for the electric cars.
According to Gordon Matheson, the council leader, this is a part of the drive to make the place cleaner and at the same time greener and healthier. He expects the subjects to be cooperative. They have to bring out their creative and innovative abilities to achieve the objective.
Incidentally, Glasgow is the first city in Great Britain to launch such a scheme, which will come into force in the next few months.
In the meantime, the reputed energy establishment, Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) opened an exhibition on renewable energy in their Waterloo Street premises in Glasgow. It brings to the notice of the visitors about the first free electric car parking spaces in the UK.
Quentin Wilson, the popular journalist on motor vehicles, who inaugurated the exhibition, is pleased at the craze of the people of Scotland towards electric car. He confirmed that the electric car will be the car of the future. The advantages of it are many. Fundamentally it is cheap, fast, clean and silent.
