To make the theatre more accessible for families, a new initiative known as Rutland Children’s Theatre Project is started. Funded by The Windmill Trust, this project will allow the students to attend theatre for no costs. Since live theatre is expensive and is inaccessible for many, this free theatre initiative becomes a sensible action. This project is begun by Alastair McLachlan at Uppingham Theatre who wanted to make theatre more accessible for children. Mr McLachlan has working hard on this project for the past three years. Ultimately, it received the necessary funding support. This project would offer free performances, useful workshops and drama groups for children. Mr McLachlan dedicated his time and efforts to organize free performances. This year he would stage free performances including Tiddlers and Other Terrific Tales and Swamp Juice.
The project will cost £10,000 annually, but it hopes it would provide a wonderful theatre experience for children. He said that although, costs has averted schools and parents from bringing their children to theatre events. This project hopes to attract children to the theatre performances.
