The Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre will be hosting a free event called ‘Mean Machines’, for all those men who love anything related to machines and robots. Hosted by Wellbeing for Life, it’s on 11th February, at the Leisure centre and will run from 11am to 3pm.
Attendees can join in activities, like coding robots, learning to play music on computers through a fruit, build heart monitors and later partake in challenges like robot wars. The aim is to encourage more men to improve their health and happiness, by accessing the Wellbeing for Life service, to enhance quality of life. It’s about improving health and well-being and not just fitness and social activities.
Co-ordinator for Wellbing of Life, Marnie Ramsey, said the event is aimed at men because they don’t get to meet them enough and added that women and children are welcome too to play with the robots, but asked them to try bring a man with them, as it could save their life. They will be offering advice to live well, addressing risk factors influencing their health and show them how small changes can improve how they feel, have a healthier lifestyle and live a longer life happier.
The trainers here support people to achieve goals, set together. on a 1 to 1 basis. and you can join the local community in their free group activities. A free 6-week programme will follow, if there is enough interest, after the free event. To sign-up for the Mean Machine event and for more information, contact Alison by calling on 07747640204.
