The escalating demand for wireless internet is encouraging food chains, restaurants and pubs to adopt Wi-Fi services. Free Wi-Fi could enhance the service offered to the customers visiting the stores and cafes. McDonald customers have been experiencing wireless internet facilities from 2007, but the latest partnership between the food chain and O2 will provide better wireless services. McDonald is now switching to O2 for free Wi-Fi access from the earlier services offered by The Cloud and BT Openzone.
A deal struck between the food chain and O2 will provide free Wi-Fi access to 750,000 customers every month. Customers using the service in busiest locations during peak hours have complained about the limitations. With the new deal, the food chain hopes to provide improved network connectivity. At present, the food chain has 1,200 branches across the UK. The switch will be completed in time for the Olympics. To benefit from the service, customers need to sign-up for the service one time. After the sign-up they can use the services from any of the McDonald branches.
IT director at McDonald, Mark Fabes said that most of the professionals and business people use the Wi-Fi at their restaurants but the service is getting worse. Latest move will provide free O2 Wi-Fi for its customers.
