A workshop will be hosted on 28th January, at the Bolton History Centre for history buffs interested in war memorials and their preservation. The centre has invited people interested, to take part in a series of events to be hosted in the coming weeks and the centre has relocated to the Central Library’s ground floor. The free workshop is being staged by the national charity Civic Voice, which focuses on the civic movement in England. The workshop will also train volunteers on ways to asses the conditions of memorials. Training to take steps to preserve in the correct way, will also be given.
The history centre has volunteers working on a project, as part of the centenary commemoration for the First World War, to record and research all war memorials in the borough. The free workshop which runs from 9:45am to 2pm, provides useful skills to both volunteers and anybody with an interest in history. Use the Eventbrite website (eventbrite.co.uk/e/war-memorials-condition-survey-workshop-bolton-tickets-28419388155) to book a free ticket to the workshop. Partnering with the Bolton Family History Society, the centre will host on 11th February, a family history day, running from 10am to 4pm. The society’s archive staff and members will be on hand to offer advice.
