There will be a weekend full of events during the St. George’s Day weekend, as the Sudbury Market Town Partnership (Suffolk) has secured funding from Big Lottery. The Quay Theatre and The Jetty (in Quay Lane) will be hosting workshops, a charity roadshow and awards ceremony on 22nd April (Sunday). A traditional country fair will be held on 23rd April (Sunday).
On Saturday, each workshop will offer ’10 Top Tips’. This will be for community and voluntary organisations. It covers various topics, such as smart working with IT, good funding applications, managing group’s finances, marketing and publicity, advocacy skills and many more.
The volunteer award ceremony will be held afterwards and acknowledges the local community members who volunteer within organisations. Three finalists nominated in each category will be invited and the winners will be announced then.
The St. George’s Day celebration event on 23rd April, Sunday, at the Sudbury Cricket Club Ground in Quary Lane will be a traditional country-style fair, with a number of stalls put up by voluntary and community organisations, filled with children’s competitions, like fancy dress on a St. George theme and different kinds of entertainment.
