London Underground could benefit from free Wi-Fi from Virgin Media

Free WiFi in LondonLondon 2012 Olympics is approaching and to welcome the big sports event, Virgin Media is delivering Wi-Fi services to the London Underground. Passenger using the London Underground can benefit from mobile internet services and free Wi-Fi. Virgin Media is selected by Greater London Authority (GLA) to provide these services to 120 underground stations. In the month of July, the provider will roll out Wi-Fi services to around 80 stations. The services will be offered for free for a limited period during the summer. After that, the services will be available broadband and mobile customers of Virgin Media on a pay-as-you-go method.

Passengers using the underground stations can benefit from the wireless service. They can get online and browse the internet while they are travelling on the tube. Mayor of London, Boris Johnson said that opening such services was vital and they created a number of opportunities evolving from digital revolution. It will improve investment and create job for people in London.

Chief executive of Virgin Media, Neil Berkett said that this initiative will show how well connected London is. This service will be useful as London will be hosting a number of sports and will be a Global stage during 2012 Olympics.
