Liverpool city’s venues for arts and cultural are joining the LightNight event on 8th May (Friday), by opening their doors for the annual ‘cultural crawl’, to bring in thousands to Liverpool’s city centre. Over a hundred free events, starting from the city’s waterfront, up to the Baltic Tiangle and the Georgian Quarter, will be attracting thousands, with plenty for families to enjoy too.
A fifteen metre ‘Paper Bridge’ will be created by 800 participants, using pieces of paper, with their future aspirations and transformation wishes written on them, is a highlight of LightNight. The story of human evolution in 20mins, is a new commissio to be presented at the Tmesis Theatre in Liverpool’s Albert Dock and to be performed by an award-winning theatre group in a breathtaking performance.
Capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian art form containing elements of music, martial arts, dance, movement and play, will be presented by Capoeira For All, who will captivate audiences with their exciting and dynamic performance . A special evening of dress-up, crafts, stories and badge-making, is slated for the Big Art For Little Artists children’s gallery opening. For the first time this year, World Museum will open late night for LightNight, to invite families to explore their free collection.
