LEAF Open Farm Sunday event coming soon

LEAF Open Farm Sunday will open the gates of hundreds of farms across the UK on 11th June, Sunday, to give the public an opportunity to see what farmers do and how their work impacts people’s lives. From the first LEAF Open Farm Sunday event, 1.8 million people have visited this annual event till today. This year farms across the country from Cornwall to Orkney, will welcome visitors young and old, to showcase the fascinating world of farming.

The event is managed by the organisation LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming), which is delivering more sustainable food and farming. It is often a misunderstood industry but play a vital role in producing nutritious and safe food, using the latest science and technology. Sustainability means boosting production, besides managing the environment for wildlife, while enhancing natural resources for future generations.

The mostly free events will offer many activities, like farm walks, bug hunts, tractor trailer rides, demonstrations of milking and sheep shearing. There is a focus on the science and technology behind food production and farming. The manager of the event at LEAF, Annabel Shackleton, pointed to incredibly diverse modern farming impacting us all and the role it plays in our lives. Open Farm Sunday is an opportunity see real life farming and the hard work and care in it, which is vital to the economy, the environment and our lives, the manager added.
