Latin and Hispanic festival coming back to Leeds

Leeds will be celebrating all things Latin and Hispanic in a festival this summer. The iVamos Festival will be celebrated on 31st July at the Millennium Square in Leeds. The family-friendly event is full of art, music and dance, has also food and drink, is back once again after its first time in Leeds last year.

The festival is celebrating in its 10th year and is returning bigger and better than before and has also toured Newcastle and Liverpool. The Leeds Council has put together a jam-packed series of events and concerts this time in summer. Headliners Cuban Combination and other artists like samba rock octet AfroSamba, DrumDin- the Newcastle samba school, Manchester’s Hera Dance samba group, Pilo Adami, the Brazilian singer, will be performing.

Lubi Jovanovic, co-curator and co-producer of the festival, said last year the festival brought the people of Leeds together to enjoy this family-friendly community festival and gave locals a chance alongside national and international artists. The focus on this year’s festival will be on Brazil with the Rio Olympics following a few days after, he added. The free events on 31st July will be running from 4pm to 7pm, to make a great Sunday.
