Runners are being invited to the Winslow parkrun to be held on Christmas Eve, which is on 24th December, Saturday. Runners can don their festive outfits and hats, as organisers are expecting a lot of Santas, elves and fairies on the run! A free parkrun takes place at every Saturday in The Carrs Park, Winslow (in Cheshire) and is a weekly 5km timed run.
The event director of Winslow parkrun, Mat Rees, said the tradition of having Santa run in the week before Christmas, at the parkrun, is to join in the festive season and to try build parkrun into the community. They really enjoy hosting it and hope it grows to be a part of the routine of more people in Winslow, he added. He also said their volunteers make the effort to ensure a safe and enjoyable event for runners every week and are passionate to make the parkrun a great place for all people to run.
The Winslow parkrun is organised entirely by volunteers. New runners must register ahead online, but need register only once for a parkrun. The Santa Run at The Carr Park, is on 24th December, starting at 9am and runners are advised to get a full run briefing and warm up by 8:50am there, before joining the free event.
